I guess I would say it was a recovery day

I guess all the travel and activities finally caught up with my body. I woke up tired and was feeling listless. I did a little some life maintenance activities and then took a nap. I slept for about an hour and a half.

After the nap, I felt a little better and fixed some lunch. Nothing exciting – a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, some cherry tomatoes and then cherries and chocolate chip cookies. This followed an earlier breakfast of cereal and toast with orange marmalade.

I needed to go down to Belle Haven and the farm stand that is there every Thursday. I needed some more fruits and vegetables. Eric, the farmer who runs the stand, is very nice. He is pretty amazing as he remembers most of his regular customers. He even remembered my name after not shopping there since last September. His family farm is up near Gettysburg, PA which is about just over an hour and half north of here. He comes down on Thursday and Saturday.

The farm stand is impressive as it has a large variety of both fruit and vegetables. For fruit this week, there were red and yellow cherries, blueberries, plums and peaches. For vegetables, there was zucchini, yellow squash, snow peas, corn, and broccoli. He has kale, Swiss chard, mixed lettuce. There were two types of small onions, radishes. Both regular and cherry tomatoes were on offer. I bought some zucchini, peaches, cherry tomatoes, regular tomatoes, cherries and blueberries. That should get me through the week.

There is also meat and chicken for sale but I have never bought any of those. I will need to look into those as well.

I like buying from Eric as I know he grows all that he sells so I know it is fresh. Also, it is nice to support a family farm. The prices are a little on the higher side but I am willing to pay as it is good, fresh and supporting his family.

I did go to the Safeway after for some staples. I needed cereal for breakfast, soy sauce for whiskey steaks that I am making next week, some milk and other things I cannot get at the farm stand.

After shopping, I came home and had another nap. My body was telling me I needed rest and sleep. I think now I am recovered fully.

I cooked dinner using the ingredients I had purchased. I had nice grilled chicken (using some of the soy sauce in the marinade), stuffed zucchini and tossed salad. I had some of the cherries for dessert.

All in all, it was a good day.
