Rest Day Before the Half Marathon

Today, I knew I had to rest before the half marathon but I needed some food for dinner so I walked over to the Marché Victor Hugo and bought some chicken and brocoli. I had rice at the apartment.

While out walking and shopping, I saw the police were mobilizing for Act III of the protests. The Place du Capitole was being blocked off. There were a good number of police everywhere.

The stores were still boarded up and many were closing early. There were protest signs on some of the buildings.

After shopping, I spent the day reading and just relaxing. I got my gear ready for the race.

I fixed dinner, I am not a pasta before the race type as it feels too heavy during the run. I always go for baked chicken, rice and a vegetable. Broccoli was the choice for tonight. There was no wine, just water.

When I was reading after dinner, I could hear a helicopter and lots of sirens so I assume there was some violence and disruption from the protesters. Not sure what was going on as I did not venture out.

Tomorrow is a long day but should be fun. I run the half marathon in the morning and then fly to Florence to meet Tom and Marion.
