I rested some in the morning as I had been very active all week. With the three runs in a row and all the walking, my legs were a little fatigued.
I had seen that there was a rowing regatta on the Garonne in the afternoon, the Garonne Cup. I wandered over to the Port Daurade to watch some of the races and just enjoy the atmosphere. It seemed to be a regatta for rowing clubs. The boats were mixed eights and seemed both be all ages.

There were a number of cheerleading squads as well cheering the groups on and doing routines. There was a very lively atmosphere. One of the things I found amusing was the cheerleaders and others did Erling Haaland and the Norwegian seated rowing celebration from the World Cup.
The Garonne was pretty calm for the races but it flows against the course so I imagine it was some work to win the regatta.
After the afternoon watching the regatta, I came back to the apartment and changed clothes. I always try to wear slightly more dressy clothes for dinner on Friday and Saturday night. The French, at least, in Toulouse and where I eat are fairly casual but I still like to look nice.
I stopped at La Reserve for my usual Aperol Spritz. I like the liveliness of the place and it is a good place to people watch. It is a mixed crowd of locals and tourists but seems very popular overall. It definitely is in a good location as it is between the Place du Capitole and the Port du Daurade which is right on the river. It is one block off the river.
I had dinner at Terra Tolosa as I had not been able to have lunch there on Thursday due to the plumbing issue. The asked me what had happened as I had to cancel my reservation which was nice.
I was amused when I arrived at the restaurant. The whole staff was sitting on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. I had a 7:30 reservation but I guess that is early for the Terra Tolosa group. They all got up and went into the restaurant when I arrived. I felt bad but they all said it was time to start working. The restaurant started filling up soon after I arrived so I did not feel as bad. They were packed to capacity so were very busy.
I choose the Menu découverte which is basically a chef’s choice for dinner of 4 courses. I figured they knew me well enough and would provide things I liked. It comes with an appetizer, fish course, meat course and dessert.

Before the actual dinner, there is an amusée buche. It was whipped goat cheese with hazelnuts and pickled butternut squash.

The appetizer was ceviche served on a crisp tortilla with guacamole. It was somewhat like a hard fish taco but flat. It was also served with spicy popcorn which as a surprise.

The fish course was cod with zucchini in a broth with some charred fennel. It had red pepper and tomato colis on top.

The meat course was slow cooked cow’s cheek that is then pulled and formed into a roll. They then slice it and quickly sear it. It was served with a red wine reduction sauce. It was served on pumpkin purée with carrot. The sauce was very thick and flavorful.

Dessert was the most interesting and unusual, it was a combination of roasted cherry tomatoes, plum pieces, with a sweetened whip cream. Along with this was tomato ice cream. They added white chocolate crackers. I had never had tomatoes as a dessert. I was not sure what to expect but it turned out very good. The tomato ice cream was definitely different. I talked to the chef afterwards and he said it was his first time trying this. He likes to experiment and try new things. He achieved that with this menu item.

As usual, Terra Tolosa did a fantastic job!. The staff is great there and it is fun to go. I met the new apprentice, Valentin, who was nice but does not speak a lot of English. I said we could speak French.
