Typical Saturday in Toulouse

As is usual in Toulouse, there are lots of activities on the weekend, some planned and some random.

Here is just a selection of what I saw and enjoyed today.

Crazy bicyclists doing tricks on the steps of the Unversity
One taking a tumble
A group offering hypnosis on the street
Weddings at the Capitole
The every Saturday street market
People enjoying the afternoon at cafes
A craft fair sponsored by the city. I just liked the dry fountain
Setting up for the Toulouse Super Tri on Sunday

After my stroll and a limonade at a cafe on the banks of the river, I went to Reflets for dinner. Reflets is one of my go to restaurants. Xavier, the sommelier and manager, came over and welcomed me by name. That is always nice. The nice young lady server also recognized me. They are part of my community here in Toulouse. They have a long and interesting wine list but, unfortunately, only full bottles and I never feel I can or should drink a whole bottle by myself. Xavier is very knowledgeable about the wines and it is fun to listen to him describe the wines to the tables near me. I, for some reason, am good at understanding the wine discussions. It might be because I know enough of wine to understand the language in context.

Dinner was delicious. I had Gnocchi in a spinach sauce with mushrooms. Besides being delicious the presentation was fun.

For dessert, who can go wrong with Chocolate Fondant. Xavier choose a nice dessert wine that complimented it well.
