I was following my try new restaurants resolution and went to Chez Lilly. I had been there once on my first time visiting but had not been back since. It was not completely new but was not a recent meal.

I tried it because it was fairly near the apartment and I had gotten caught up in planning my trip to meet Tom and Marion in Italy so was late leaving for lunch. Another reason I chose it was that it had a reasonable formule.

The atmosphere was nice as they have a quiet courtyard garden to eat in. It was sprinkling when I first got there so the garden was covered but the proprietor opened the roof a few minutes later as the sun as had come out.

I ordered gazpacho for the entree (appetizer) which is one of my favorite summer food and since we are at the end of summer I thought it might be my last chance. I was very disappointed with it. It was very watery and had very little flavor. The only thing that added to it was it had blocks of feta in it. It was not like any gazpacho I had ever had before.

For my main course (plat), I ordered the duck confit. It was better but I thought it was a little overcooked. On the edges it was very dry and hard. Once I got more to the center of the thigh and leg, it was tender and had good flavor. I did like the crispy fat. It was served with mediocre mashed potatoes and some mushrooms. All in all, the meal was disappointing so I will not be coming back to Chez Lilly again.

The one good part was I had a glass of Madrian wine and it was good.

In the evening, I ran with Run in Toulouse. It was one of the windy days which makes running not as enjoyable and with the super dry weather Toulouse has had, there is lots of dust being blown around. I wore sunglasses even thought I probably did not need them to avoid getting things blown in my eyes. The run as usual was fun.

Other than that it was a fairly normal day.
