Last dinner at La Panache

My stay in Toulouse for this trip is winding down. I am down to my last couple of days and am trying to do as much as I can before I leave. The heat wave is still here but it is supposed to break by tomorrow.

I went to the Victor Hugo market to get some lunch food and, of course, a baguette. I have been happy to be able to get peaches and cherries. I am hoping peach season starts soon in Virginia after I get back.

I tried a couple of times in the morning to go back to the craft cocktail shop to pay the rest of what I owed for the gifts I had bought yesterday. The shop must only open in the afternoon as it was not open the two times I tried in the morning.

I was able to get some more gifts to take home. Two sets of friends are having babies this summer so I bought each a baby outfit from France.

I did a little laundry as I figured with the heat the laundry would dry quickly. It did which was good. All of this is in preparation to head back to Alexandria.

In the evening, I knew I was going to have dinner at Le Panache so walked back over to the cocktail shop to see if it has opened. It had so I was able to settle my bill.

After that I walked to the Place de Capitole to have an Apéro. I know the cafes at the Place de Capitole are for the tourists but I thought it was a good idea to have one drink there and enjoy the ambiance. I had a glass of Rosé wine.

Dinner at Le Panache was great as usual. It makes me sad to think that I am not going to have my usual Friday night dinner there for the next coupe of months. I will have to figure out a place in Alexandria that works.

Business was slow so I had lots of time to chat with Ervim and Enzo. They make a funny team. There is lots of banter between the two of them. They, also, engage with me.

We drank two bottles of wine together – one I paid for and one Enzo provided. It was very funny as Ervim did not like the wine Enzo picked. He kept making faces when drinking it and comments. Enzo and I both found it good but different. As usual, just before I left, we did a shot.

I am happy that I will be able to have one more meal at Le Panache before I leave. I am going to have Tuesday lunch there.

As I walked home, I could feel the weather cooling off. With the cooling weather, the city came alive again. There were lots of people on the banks of the Garonne and in the Place Saint-Pierre. You could feel the vibrancy of the city which had been dormant during the extreme heat.

This picture is on a street that I walked down for the first time yesterday. I am not sure how I had missed it before.
