An early post today

I am running the Toulouse Urban Trail run tomorrow and Morgane nicely asked me to go with there to pick up our bibs. I am running the 24k and Morgane is running the 14k. It was fun to walk over with her and use my French. Morgane speaks a little English but is not nearly conversant so we did most of the talking in French which is good for me.

After picking up the bibs, we walked over to La Panache and hug out with Enzo and Jean Louis for a little while. Again, it is nice to be included and part of a group.

On the walk home, I saw one of those things that makes me love Toulouse. There was a band on the banks of the Garonne playing and entertaining the people on the steps of the Port St. Pierre. They were playing Happy Birthday to someone when I stopped.

The rest of the afternoon was spend resting to be ready to run tomorrow. I did go to the Victor Hugo market to shop as I will not be able to do it tomorrow. I got food for Sunday and Monday night dinner. I really enjoy shopping there.

This evening I had dinner at Le Petit Marais. I had gotten to know Gabriel on previous trips but had not eaten dinner there yet. It is fairly close to my apartment so was not much effort to get there. It is also a great value – 3 course dinner for 16 euros. The food is basic but good. I love their fois gras but did not think that was a good option right before a 24k run. I had crème brûlée for dessert but did not finish it as it was huge portion.

I walked home at sunset and it was another renaissance painting sunset. There were lots of people on the Pont St. Pierre taking pictures and I joined them. The water was flat and still so there were beautiful reflections on the water.

When I walked along the wall overlooking the river in front of my apartment, there was a couple shucking fresh oysters and eating them as they sat on the wall. Seeing scenes like that make me happy and know the Toulousians know how to enjoy life.
