I really enjoy Sunday’s. There is a set plan for the day which is a good thing but it involves things that I really enjoy.
I get up, shower and have a little breakfast. I, then, walked over to the St. Aubin’s market. It is always lively and packed. It was a rainy, dreary morning yet all the vendors were there and people were shopping. I get fruit and vegetables for my weekly meals. I eat most lunches at home (expect Tuesday and Thursday when I run and have my large meal during lunch) and fix dinner on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday nights. Tuesday and Thursday are light meals after the run. I buy olives from the olive vendor. He always gives me a handful of pistachios (which he also sells) when I buy olives.
I walk from St. Aubin’s to the Victor Hugo market where I get seafood or meat for my main courses. I have been experimenting with seafood as there is such a selection. I have bought cod, sole, sea bass an other fish to try and cook. I look up recipes for them after I have bought them. I also like lamb a lot and buy lamb chops for the lamb stand. Today, I picked up some pate to have with my lunches.
If I need wine, I buy wine at the Cave outside the market. I try to always buy local wine on recommendation of the owner of the store. Today I got L’Illustre which is actually made in Toulouse. It is 100% Marselan. It is biologigue wine which means it is natural. It was 15 euros.

As a treat, I hit Maison Pillon and buy a very good chocolatine (pain au chocolat). It is a fancy chocolatier but makes croissants and other pastries. It is slightly more expensive than a traditional bakery but the chocolate in it is fantastic. I head home and have a cup of tea and the chocolatine.
At noon, I head to St. Sernin and go to church. As always, the setting is fantastic. Today in the sermon there was a discussion of the upcoming Papal Conclave. The priest said it was not like the movie Conclave as the movie was like American politics put on the papal election and that was not how a true Papal Conclave worked. He was pretty amusing in his discussion.
The day was off and on rain so I was not sure I was going to be able to run in the afternoon. After waiting awhile, I decided to risk it. I head out on the trail along the river Garonne. There were not many people braving the weather. It was definitely hot and humid. I had a great run, as I did 6 miles at 8:00 minute miles. Not sure if I went fast because and I am getting more in shape or because of the weather and wanting to beat the rain. Luckily, I did beat the rain by about 2 minutes. It was a good run.

I made dinner with the food I had bought at the markets and it was great. I really like being able to eat fresh, no processed foods.

I’ll bet it was an interesting and amuzing constrast between Hollywood view of the conclave and reality.
8 min miles, wow Peter you were flying!
