Regular Saturday

As I usually do, I went for a long walk around Toulouse this afternoon. It was another beautiful day so it was fun to wander.

A couple of things that were interesting. There was a young man on the side of the river throwing a weighted magnet into the river and trawling for metal objects. He seemed somewhat successful as the magnet was bringing things up. I am guessing he was getting coins that had been dropped from the quais on the river. Not sure how much he gets but he must think it is successful.

The other was at dinner. There must have been some kind of issue that required calling the fire department as while I was sitting outside eating, a fire truck pulled up outside the restaurant across the lane from where I was eating. The fire fighters were let in a side door by one of the restaurant staff. There was lots of coming and going but there did not seem to be a fire. The interesting part to me is that the patrons at the restaurant and staff did not seem to think it was an issue as everything went on as normal. The restaurant was not evacuated and everyone just kept on eating. Not sure the same thing would have happened in the US. Also, the street is very narrow yet, motorcycles kept coming down the street and just hopped on the sidewalk to go around the truck.

Dinner at Le Petit Marais was good as usual. It is more typical French and not as fancy as Le Panache but is equally fun and good. It has become one of my go to restaurants as the food is good and incredibly inexpensive. The staff is great as well.
