Beautiful Spring Day

Easter Monday is a holiday for France so the city was busy but peaceful. There were people out and about but not like a work day. Most shops were closed as were all businesses.

I did my usual life maintenance in the morning. I did laundry, ran the dishwasher and cleaned the apartment. This apartment is much easier to clean as it is much less letter with knickknacks than my apartment in Alexandria and less furniture. I like my things back in Alexandria but less clutter definitely makes it easier to clean.

After life maintenance, I wandered down to one of the municipal parks which is very nice. The main draw is the Japanese Gardens. There were lots of people visiting the garden but it was definitely manageable.

After wandering the gardens, I found a nice bench in the shade and read for a couple of hours. Every time I do this, I wonder why I do not do more of it in Alexandria. We do have parks by the river so I could go and sit and read. It just does seem the same as there are always lots of other people in the parks and there is a strong sense of togetherness.

I think one reason for this is most people live in apartments in the center of Toulouse and there is no yards for families to sit in so they go to the parks for the kids to play and picnic. The students seem to congregate on the banks of the Garonne to enough outdoor space.

After my activities, I had a quiet night. I made dinner and read. Dinner consisted of using up the vegetables that I did not use for Easter dinner and then sautéed fish. I made a big salad as that is not something you get a great deal with at French restaurants or at least at the ones I frequent. I finished up the Easter cake for dessert.
