Short Post

The weather was cold and dreary so I stayed in after having had a busy day and longer night on Friday.

My only activity was to walk over to Reflets and have dinner. I love their food but it is on the more expensive side for my eating out in Toulouse.

So this post is mostly about good food. For starters I had escargots. It is not the traditional snails in shells. They were server without shells with mushrooms and a parsley sauce. I am sure there was lots of butter in it as well.

For the main course, I had skate wing with Brussels sprouts served on a bed of parsnip purée. I loved the garnish of the mustard seeds in a Brussels sprouts leaf. The skate wing was fried and rolled up on the plate.

The dessert was poached pear on a cooking with crème. It was served with vanilla ice cream which was delicious. The pear had diced pear in the core. It was beautiful and full of different textures.

I had a glass of Bouzeron wine which is from Burgundy. It is an AOC in Burgundy and is made from the grape variety Aligoté. I do not think I had ever had a wine made with Aligotè. On research of the wine, it says it is similar to Pinot Gris. This AOC was not recognized until 1998. All the wine in the AOC has to be 100% Aligotè. It is produced in Bourezon and Chases-le-Camp in the Côte Chalonnaise. It was definitely different but good. It was recommended with my choice of dinner and did go well.

I hope to be back more on the routine tomorrow and going forward.
