Recovery Day

After our adventures in Barcelona, we decided we needed a recovery day with no big plans or major sightseeing activities.

I got up early and went down to the local boulangerie and bought some fresh croissants for breakfast. I branched out a little and bought almond, chocolate almond and regular croissants. They all got good reviews.

Jen and Jesse needed to do laundry so we will a couple of loads of laundry as the washing machine is small. For one person it is fine, but for two people and a week’s worth of travel and running wear it is somewhat small. They got the experience of air drying clothes.

After the laundry was done, Jesse and I went for a run in the Parc de Garonne. As usual, I did it run the correct route. I do not know why I cannot figure out the long route correctly. Granted there is not a lot of signage and what there is, is not always understandable. We took a definite detour and got off the main trails. I started to turn around but there was a man on the side of the trail that lived/worked along where we were running and he pointed and indicated that we should continue going straight. He was correct as we did run back into the main trail. Someday I am going to conquer the Parc de Garonne 9.5 kilometer trail. I have done 85% of it but have never made it around the whole trail in the correct way.

Jen did a shorter run around the city and some running tourism while Jesse and I did our long run.

We then cleaned up and headed out to lunch. Since it was past main lunch time (12:00 – 2:00) we ended up eating a Ramen restaurant on the Rue Leon Gamabetta. It is one of the main roads that leads to the Place de Capitole. I had Gyozas which I love and a chicken teriyaki. Jesse and Jen both had Ramen bowls. For quick fast food it was good.

We strolled over to the coffee roaster so Jen could get some coffee to take home to Alexandria, After which we walked to my corner cafe and had some beer and watched the chaos at the intersection. I am always amazed at the corner that there is not an accident as there are bike lanes, automobile traffic, pedestrians, cafes and motorcycles. The left turn form on road onto the road along the river over two bike lanes always looks treacherous.

Next stop was the Pêcheurs de Sable for another couple of beers. It was a beautiful day so sitting out and just enjoying the early evening was good.

We had not seen a good sunset so we walked back to the wall in front of my apartment and watched the sunset.

Final activity was dinner at Le Panache which is my favorite place. We met another American, Daniel, who was visiting from Atlanta. His company has offices in Madrid and Paris so he decided to visit Toulouse between those two cities. He had not been to Toulouse before and said he really liked it. This was his second dinner at Le Panache. It proves that I am not the only one who really likes the restaurant.

We had a couple of bottles of good wine. I had a new dish of shrimp with risotto. It was very good.

Another fun day.
