Busy Sunday

Sunday always seems to be a busy day. I did my usual “faire les courses” (shopping). I went to the open air market at St. Aubin’s for fruits, vegetables, cheese and olives. I, then, went to the Marchè Victor Hugo and bought protein for dinner.

I had a confusing (my fault) exchange when buying lamb chops. The cost was 6.01 euros. I gave the women selling the lamb chops, 20.01 euros. She then asked if I had a one euro coin – there are too many coins in euros. I did not but showed her a two euro and she asked again if I hand a one euro. Through all of this while I was looking, she had put a one euro coin on the counter, I thought she was saying that was what she was looking for but in reality she had given the one and taken the two. I got completely confused as what was happening. I finally figured out that she was good with whatever had happened. I think she thought I was crazy or just unable to understand euros but I think I was just not paying attention as I was going through all my coins to figure out if I had a one euro to give her. She was very nice but I felt very stupid!

There was a triathlon in the morning and I stopped and watched the run section. I could see the swimming portion in the Garonne just pasted the Pont Neuf but it was hard to get all the way up there. I think this was a new event for Toulouse as it was combined with the professional SuperTri. I had seen the SuperTri when I was here last fall but there was not a regular triathlon with it. It is a nice course.

In the afternoon, I went back and watched the SuperTri event. It is an interesting competition as it is swim, bike and run but they do two circuits of each competition. I think the length is the shortest tri length as it is all pretty quick. I watched from the Port Daurade so I could see part of each event. It is also a team event. The individuals compete as individuals but they are different teams. It is interesting and fun to watch.

Toulouse is having an organ festival for the two weeks. I did not go to my regular English mass at Saint Sernin as they were having a choral mass with two organs at 6:30. I went to the service and it was beautiful. They had the choral arts society and the two organs (a grand organ and a smaller organ in the choir) performing. It was the standard mass just with beautiful music and the singing.

After the mass, I came home a cooked dinner.

All in all, a good Sunday.
