Slow Day

I woke up to dreary, blustery weather. It was windy and rain was predicted. So faced with a less than ideal day, I decided to stay in the apartment and read. I had not taken a full day off since I have been in Toulouse but decided it would be a good day to be lazy.

The laziness only lasted for so long. I kept hearing cheering outside the apartment. It was fairly loud and was lasting for longer than just a random cheer. I decided to wander out and see what was going on. It ended up being a group of teenage guys riding their bicycles up a staircase with a ramp in the middle of the stairs and doing tricks. It seemed to be an organized group. I watched for a little while and was impressed with their feats. It seemed to be some kind of competition as one rider did a trick and was given a bike seat.

After watching them for a while, I walked over to the Place Saint Pierre as I knew there as a festival going on in the plaza. It was interesting. There were talks with questions and answers. It seemed to be influencers. There was music and feats of strength demonstations and other amusing things.

One of my favorite activities was the bumper soccer. They had a small pitch with blown up sides. The players worn blown up round bubble and they tried to score goals while encased in bubbles. It looked pretty fun!

After that I went to Reflets for dinner. I had lunch at Reflets earlier in the week and really enjoyed it so wanted to try it for dinner. Dinner did not disappoint. This will shock many of my friends who know that most of my food dislikes are while foods and include cauliflower. We I took a risk and had cauliflower as the appetizer. It was tempura and barbecued. It was good – still did not make me a fan of cauliflower.

The main dish was stuffed squid. The stuffing was spicy which complimented the grilled squid. It was on a bed of risotto. There were green beans and zucchini as well. It was very good.

I had a very nice glass of Vouvray with it. The name of it was Le Facteur Su’ L’ Vélo. The translation is the postman on the bike. One of the workers, a young man, was very knowledgeable about wine. He brought three bottles out for a table next to mine and described all three in very good detail. Maybe because I know about wine, I could understand most of the discussion about the wine. I am going to have to go back and get him to discuss the wine with me.

Even though the weather was not agreeable it turned out to be a good day.
