As usual, I walked around this morning. I headed over the Pont des Catalans to the St. Cyprien district. I was heading over to Pont Saint-Michel and the Jardin des Plantes. This is a nice walk and allows me to see some of the fun things in Toulouse.
While walking, I saw an Auchan grocery store. I had not seen one before and went in since it seemed larger than the two usual grocery stores I shop in – Monoprix and InterMarchè. I needed some dishwashing detergent and laundry detergent and wanted to have a bigger selections of options. Auchan met what I was looking for in shopping. It is probably a little further than Monoprix but is a nice walk so I will use it in the future.
I had my usual lunch at Terra Tolosa. I am always impressed with my meals there. So far, the weekly lunch options have been varied enough that I have not had the same thing. Since I go every Thursday for lunch, I might end up with a repeat but will not complain. The plan is usually three options for entrèes (appetizers), plats (main course) and desert (dessert). One option for dessert is always a cheese plate.

For my entrèe I chose the Déclnasion de Haddock, poireax (leeks) Fondant et Orange. It was a great blend of ingredients and textures.

For my main course, I chose the Ballotine de Merlu (Hake), Jardiniere des Legumes Roti (roasted garden vegetales – bok choy, fennel, carrot and parsnips), Sauce Osielle. The chef explained that Osielle is sorrel. It was very good. The fish was super flakey and moist.

Dessert was the Entremet Financier Nectarine. As with most of the restaurants all the ingredients are seasonal and only served when in season and fresh. I see nectarines in all the open air markets where I shop now.

I walked back to my apartment after buying the different detergents I needed at Auchan. I need to walk after meals like this.
As I was walking home, I ran into the end of the march based on the second general strike being held in France about the budget. The strike and march did not seem to affect much in Toulouse. The buses and trams were still working. I saw the city workers fixing a path near my apartment. All the stores and restaurants seem to be open. A couple of places were closed for security reasons – one of the big parks near where the march started. If is interesting to seeing the different reaction to budget confrontations between France and the United States.

In the evening, I joined Run in Toulouse for the run. We started in the plaza outside the Basilica Saint Sernin as there was an event going on in the Place de Capitole. The run was good as usual.

The post picture is a statute that is in one of the green spaces around the Jardin des Plantes. I had not see it before and the plaque said it was installed in 2025 so I am guessing it was installed this summer when I was in Alexandria.
