Sunday – still adjusting somewhat

Sunday is generally one of my busiest days and it all happens in the morning.

I get up fairly early and walk over to the St. Aubin’s open air market. It is about 20 minutes to walk over there. I enjoy my interactions with the olive purveyor who is always upbeat. I bought some almonds and pistachios which was a first. He would always give me a taste of the nuts when I bought the olives so I decided to buy some to have some snacks (healthy) around the house.

I then stop a Maison Pillon for my chocolatine for Sunday breakfast. They are delicious and always look beautiful. I have to be careful bringing the chocolatine home so it does not get crushed. It is a good treat for Sunday.

After Maison Pillon, I stop at the Marchè Victor Hugo for protein for my home cooked meals. I bought poulet label rouge – this is the highest level of chicken that France has. It is very good but not sure it is that much better than the regular chicken. I, also, bought some fish filets. I needed some jambon for lunch and stopped at Maison Garcia. Maison Garcia was packed. There was a line of about 15 people buying different pork products – pork chops, sausages, charcuterie. There must have been 10 people working the stand and for then it was a crazy as the aisles behind the counters are small.

I noticed at both the chicken stand and at Maison Garcia, you could have the meat vacuum packed. I am guessing that is for those who can only shop on Saturday and want the meat as fresh as possible for the week. A woman at the chicken stand bought three different types of poultry and she had each one vacuum packed separately. I am guessing she was shopping for the week.

I had my breakfast and then headed to Saint Sernin for church. I miss St. Paul’s in Alexandria and the community I have there but am glad to go to church.

On Sunday’s the plaza outside is full of groups playing bolles. It is fun to watch them play. Some of the groups are quite competitive.

There was an open air art market in the Place Saint Pierre on the way home from church so I walked through it and looked at the art. The post picture is from the art market.

The rest of the afternoon was somewhat worthless as I just relaxed around the house. I know that when I first get here and started doing things, I feel like I will not have time to do all the things that I want to do so I somewhat overdue. I was a little tired and decided a rest day would be good. I have 9 more weeks and do not have to be on the go all the time.

I have a step count watch and realized I had doubled the number of steps in the 10 days I had been in Toulouse over the 16 days I had been in Alexandria in September. I had run more and definitely walked more so decided I could take a rest day.
