Fun Day

After discussing food the other day and at the suggestion of a friend, I decided to break my lunch routine and decided to try some Vietnamese food in France. Since Vietnam had previously been a French colony and they are strong connections between the two countries, I thought I could get some good Vietnamese cuisine. I tried a restaurant that advertised Vietnamese street food. It was small with about 6 tables and the cook in a small kitchen at the back of the restaurant. It had a limited menu of Vietnamese options.

I had fired pork with onions, Vietnamese salad and white rice. I also has a pork fried dumpling. Since I am in France, I went with a glass of rose to accompany it. It was very good and I enjoyed the break from standard French cuisine. I will try to find some other Vietnamese restaurants, which I have seen as I walk around.

I did my usual walking around. I bought a few groceries that I needed – some tea and milk. After buying those, I headed to Au Rose Pousin to get some small pastries. I had not gotten any lately and was missing my does of good French pasteries.

It was running group night and so headed to the Place de Capitole to meet the group. I guess they are getting used to seeing me and I am becoming a known runner as more people are engaging with me before the start. As usual, these things are happening towards the end of the trip. As Elliot said, it is good as I will be coming back to Toulouse. One young lady, asked where I was from when she heard me speaking English. When I told her, she said she had been in Boise, Idaho. I asked her why and she said she had done a study program where she lived with an American family and did not have a choice of locations. Another guy joined the conversation and he is from Barcelona and works for Airbus. He said that he feels that the most foreigners in Toulouse are Spanish. He said he did not meet a lot of Americans but was happy to see that at least one liked Toulouse. It is nice to feel that I am really becoming a part of the community.
