On the whole day was good. It was one of the days that I did not have specific plans which always throws me off somewhat. In the end, I went for a long walk which is my default for not having plans.

Since it was another great weather day, I walked along the river with the intent of getting to the Jardin de Plantes or the Grande Rond so that I could read. For some reason, the gardens were closed so I could not read. I decided to keep walking and ended up walking along the Canal du Midi. It is in full bloom so it was very pretty. I read the historical markers along the canal and learned more about its history and the history of that part of the city.

On our runs, we had run past a cemetery that seemed very large. One of the historical markers discussed the history of the cemetery and how the first road bridge over the canal (1908) allowed funerals to go directly from the city churches to the cemetery. They build a grand entrance to the cemetery then.

After a five mile walk (10,000 steps my daily goal), I was thirsty and went for a pint of beer at a cafe/pub on the Place St. Pierre. The Place is near the university and has a number of cheap drinking establishments so it is very lively.

The frustrating part for me and made by me is that the Run Group was having a happy hour and I thought I would try to attend. I went over and looked at the group and did not recognize anyone. Also, as expected everyone was talking in French and I did not see anyone who I knew spoke English. I chickened out and decide I was not bold enough to try to take it all in. I should have done it but just did not have the courage. I came home and had a nice dinner. I should be better at just jumping in.
