Another day that convinces me that living in Toulouse is the norm now

It was an overcast and rainy Monday so I decide that life maintenance was on the list of things to do. When I realized that I was not anxious to go out and explore, I realized that this was every day life. If I were in Washington, my day would have been the same. On a rainy Monday in DC, I would have done things that needed to be done around the house, read some and just enjoy doing nothing. I did the same here.

The one of the interesting things about life maintenance is doing laundry. I have to do laundry fairly regularly as I brought a limited amount of clothes with me. I have only a couple of running outfits and with running 3 times a week, I need to wash those. Also, normal laundry needs to be done.

In Europe, washing machines are much smaller than in the US. They do not hold nearly as many clothes. Also, they take a great deal longer to run than in DC. I think this is possibly because they want them to be environmentally friendly and to not use as much energy. It takes over an hour to run a small load of laundry.

After doing the washing, there is no dryer so everything is air dried. The Airbnb provided a drying rack that is very easy to store (better than the one I have in DC). So all clothes have to be hung to dry. Luckily knowing this, I brought most clothes that were made of fabrics that dry quickly. Not all meet that criteria so it takes a number of hours (8 or more) to dry. This means I have to really think ahead when needing to ensure I have clean clothes.

I used the oven for the first time. I was not sure about it as stove and oven are induction. I have gotten a handle on the induction cook top and do pretty well with it. I was nervous at first about the oven but decided to try it for dinner and it worked well so I am good with cooking most things now.

You get a little idea of the apartment as well with the view of the laundry drying.

Not the most exciting post but not every day can be exciting.
