After my trip to Venice, I needed to have dinner but was somewhat tired so did not go out in search of a new restaurant but settled on one close to the hotel where I had had lunch previously, Il Vicoletto.
I had Duck Ragu with Bigol. Bigol is a form a pasta that is famous in Verona. It was very earthy and good. For the main course, I had Wild Boar (from our valley as the menu described it) and polenta. Both course were good and I felt very Veronese eating both duck and boar in one meal.
The funny part was that they did not have carafes of wine for dinner service and so I “had” to order a whole bottle. The waiter joked that it was too bad he was on duty or he would have joined me to finish the bottle when I told him I was not sure I would be able to finish it.
I ordered a Valpolicella (this is one of the four main wines of the Veneto). It was very good and I did a good job of finishing most of the bottle!
