Got to Munich this morning for the change of planes to Verona. It is a grey, dreary day in Munich but since I am not leaving the airport it really does not affect me.
Had a great flight from Dulles – the flight was uneventful. I watched the Mission Impossible movie, had another glass of Champagne before dinner. The dinner was better than most meals, I have had but going Polaris class helps. It was barbecue chicken, collard greens and sweet potato purée. I had a nice glass of Haut Medoc as the beverage.
The flatbed travel experience is really a good choice (expensive but great). United has great bedding so overall I got a couple of hours of sleep.
I had my first adventure this morning as I was not fully awake. I brought a larger iPad (inherited from Babs) which has a keyboard so I could blog more easily. Even before I left I was reminding myself not to forget it this morning as it does not fit in the sling bag that I brought for carry on luggage. I am trying to travel light. Well, what I feared happened, I left it on the plane. After slight panic, I saw the flight attendants getting off the plane and they were able to retrieve it so all was not horrible. I really was grateful to the flight attendants!
The next adventure was not of my doing – someone tried to re-enter passport control and all the doors out of passport control locked and no one could get out. There were about 20 people who were stranded between passport control and the exit. It took about 15 minutes to get the doors re-opened so we all just waited patiently. It did not affect my flight as I have plenty of time between connections.
I will be reading and relaxing – also putting the iPad where I will not forget it this time.
